Matzikama Means Business

Press Release: Matzikama Means Business

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we wish to inform you that the Matzikama Business Development Centre (MBDC) has opened its doors to the public on 1 December 2020 at 3 Kerk Street, Vredendal. While the official launch is scheduled for February 2021, the MBDC has started servicing the community and businesses as of 1 December 2020.

The MBDC was conseptualised by a need that the Matzikama Municipality identified. Support for existing and upcoming Entrepreneurs is lacking, and together with various sectors (Mining, Business Chambers, Agriculture, Tourism and the SMME Forum) the development of a business hub was identified, where SMME’s can be supported.

The MBDC is a business hub which aims to start, nurture and grow Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises by providing them with much-needed information and resources. The MBDC further aims to foster an entrepreneurial culture within the local community to promote access to opportunities to its participants. In partnership with, The Business Associate, the MBDC aims to realise its vision of an inclusive and diverse local economy.

The Business Associate (‘TBA’) is a privately owned company based in the Western Cape, which operates throughout South Africa. TBA specialises in the field of Enterprise and Supplier Development with a focus on the advancement of Small Medium & Micro Enterprises.

TBA, together with the MBDC Board and various stakeholders, is committed to growing local businesses and will facilitate training, development & support of the community’s existing & prospective entrepreneurs.

This project would not be possible without the support of the 3 start-up funders, Tronox, MSR Tormin Mine and St Gobain – Africa. The Board wishes to thank these companies for their vision.
