Namaqua X Challenge

Experience the Namaqua West Coast Challenge for an adventure of a lifetime!

Paddle on the pristine Olifants River to the Estuary, Trail run along the West Coast and it’s spectacular Sea Cliffs and MTB through the Matzikama plains to the lush vineyards of the West Coast Wine Route.

TRI CHALLENGE [river paddle, coastal run and mountain bike]

OR

DUO CHALLENGE [Coastal Run and Mountain bike]

Entry fees: TRI CHALLENGE

Solos – R1500.00 [You can paddle in a double boat but will not be eligible for podium positions, in that case]

Relay team of 3 – R2100.00 per relay team

Includes: [for both the Tri and Duo Challenge]

• Race entry,
• Race pack which includes a bottle of Namaqua wine,
• Branded race cap,
• Finish line-custom made wood coaster with the race logo – [each one is different]
• Prize-giving dinner braai [Saturday evening] at Namaqua Wines.

• Relay team. Any combination.

• Registration at Namaqua Spuitdrift Cellar, Vredendal. Friday, 22 May from 17h00 – 21h00
• The “sequence, times, directions” to each area will be detailed on the race info on www.quantumadventures.co.za with a briefing at the start line/venue.

Race Start times: Tri Challenge

• Saturday, 23 May.
• 7h15

Disciplines: [low tide is at 9h36]

1. 23km paddle.

• Takes place on the Olifants River. No rapids. The river is tidal and pristine – really beautiful and clean! The tides are taken into account to ensure the best possible paddling and beach run conditions. K1 / K2 / Surf-skis.

2. 11km beach run.

• Altitude gain – 125m. The run will take you from the end of the paddle – T1 [Transition 1] – on a single track to the Olifants River mouth [Papendorp]. From here, you follow the coast – South – along the hard sand, rocky crossings [low tide] and below the cliffs. This is another spectacular section. You will finish the run at T2 – The Strandfontein Campsite / Caravan Park.

3. +-50km Mtb.

• This route might be different to the one in 2019 – still scouting. The finish is at Namaqua Spuitdrift Cellar, where you registered the afternoon before.

Altitude gain – 380m. Refreshment point on route.

Entry fee – R1000.00. [A solo race]
